Dos and Don’ts Dreads
Do have at least 2 inches of natural unrelaxed hair, if you would like to start your locs with relaxed hair. If your hair is all-natural even better.
Do know the thickness of locs you want. This will depend a lot on the texture of your locs and your loctician will be able to advise you appropriately.
Do trim the tips of your locs after the initial locking procedure. This will allow for a nice finished look on the tips of all your locs.
Don’t blow dry or heat treat your hair at least one week before the first locing procedure.
Don’t use homemade mixes and products such as Honey, Toothpaste, Egg White, Avocado, Peanut Butter, Shea Butter, Candle Wax and Hair Gel to try and loc your hair. Seek professional guidance instead.
